Licenses & Standards

National Standards Authority of Ireland

Because we understand the importance of achieving the highest quality of services provided Pioneer Security is a licensed member of NSAI. The National Standards Authority of Ireland operates a certification scheme based on Irish Standard I.S. EN 50131/1:1997 for Alarm and Intrusion Systems. Licensed installers have their operations and procedures evaluated and therefore granted with Irish Standard Mark Licence. Only licensed installers are listed at An Garda Siochána, who are then prepared to provide a response to alarm activations from monitored installations. By certification of activities and processes NSAI regulates the standards laid down for the market and gives the consumer confidence in the product or service being purchased.

New Garda Policy

The new Garda Policy on Monitored Intruder Alarms became valid from 1st January 2005 on new systems and from 1st of January 2007 on existing systems.

The policy is aimed at keeping to a minimum the number of false alarm calls passed to An Garda Síochána. To achieve this, Gardai will respond to verified alarm activations only. Unfortunately the existing systems provides only primary / single detection signal. Verified alarm activation is achieved by the activation of a secondary detection device within a set time frame which eliminates the possibility of false alarms.

To allow for the industry to make the necessary technical adjustments the new policy will take full effect as and from 1st January 2007. After this date any alarm not verified by a secondary device will be considered as a false alarm and Gardai will not respond to the premises.

Private Security Authority

Private Security Authority (PSA) is the statutory body with responsibility for licensing and regulating the private security industry in Ireland. It was established to control and supervise persons providing security services and to maintain and improve standards in the provision of security services provided.
